Creatures of the Night

Creatures of the night, or nocturnal animals seemed like a great topic while approaching Halloween.  We focused on owls and bats this week and the kids LOVED it!

Our owl friend had:

Circles for eyes, a triangle for a nose, and ovals for ears.

The shapes had velcro on the back and the children loved sticking them on and puling them off while learning their shapes!

a little dress up in the Enchanted Forest and...

{we love having Buzz Lightyear, Spidey, and a Princess in class}!

We also learned that owls live in trees, and ours were different colors...

So, we practiced our colors while counting them!

Early reading, letter and number recognition!

We love seeing what we can find in our Alphabet Soup!

We love sending art projects home with handprints and fingerprints.

Look at our owls!

Hoot! Hoot!

a little play dough spaghetti to go with it...

and Bat Stamping...

Did you know that bats sleep upside down in a tree, like this?

Graham: "that's how I sleep"!

Love it!

Our bats had different colored tummies and there were two of each color.  So, we played a matching game and talked about "pairs"...the same and different!

Look at all of the "at" words you can make!

We spent a lot of time outside playing and learning...the weather was too perfect!

The Haystack maze was a huge hit!

as you know,

We LOVE birthdays!!!
